I Wander, Blind
It surges again!
Oh, how brightly it sings!
Your fingers graze
The lip of the sky
And take me into your wings!Where were you? What blessed shawls
Concealed you from my eye?
Weaved from the threads of heaven
If they would grace your shoulders
And hide you like marble
Cloaked in earth and weeds.I hear shutters creak,
The air darkens. I wander, blind.
My breath wastes – to remember – your fading divine. For when I wake and find you gone
My body rises, blinking,
Stumbling towards the dawn.

And hide you like marble
Cloaked in earth and weeds.
I hear shutters creak,
The air darkens. I wander, blind.
I love all these words and where they were put. It made me feel like I was running across pinned photographs, and each photo produced entertainment, anxiety, and old memories, which brought much comfort. Great poem, Brandon. Makes me want to pick up the pen, look around, and listen.
